Iowa Senate Panel Holds Hearing on GMO Labeling Bill Occupy Monsanto

Iowa Senate Panel Holds Hearing on GMO Labeling Bill Occupy Monsanto

While this bill had no real chance of passing, it does demonstrate that change is coming.

The State Senate of Iowa held a hearing Wednesday on a law to implement labeling GMOs in the state for the first time.  It would label all products containing GMOs except for in meat, alcohol, and organics (organics are already controlled to be as non-GMO as possible in the current environment).  Quite interestingly, not even the most fervent supporters of the bill believed it had a chance, but the committee held the public hearing anyway for educational purposes and to raise awareness on this issue which is heading for the forefront of public debate in many arenas around the country.
